Suranga Lakmal to take Retirement from Cricket After India Tour 2022

Sri Lankan bowler Suranga Lakmal has announced his retirement from international cricket after the February-March 2022 tour of India. Sri Lanka pacer Suranga Lakmal expressed his desire to retire from cricket and thanked the board for their support over his career.

“I’m indebted to Sri Lanka Cricket for giving me this astonishing opportunity and having faith in me to bring back my motherland’s honour,” said Lakmal in his letter. “It has been an absolute pleasure to be associated with the board that shaped my professional life and also enriched my personal development.

My players, coaches, team managers, support staff, administrators, and all other support staff are all people I hold with the utmost regard.

Sri Lankan all-rounder Suranga Lakmal has a 12-year international career that includes 165 appearances and 285 wickets at an average of 34.94. T20 World Cup Champion: he was a member of the team that triumphed in 2014.

During the Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley De Silva’s statement, “We take this opportunity to wish Lakmal the very best of luck for his future endeavours, and we look forward to seeing him perform during the Sri Lanka Tour of India, provided the selectors choose him for the tour,” he said.

When asked by De Silva about the legacy of Lakmal, he stated, “Lakmal has been an excellent contribution to Sri Lanka Cricket, and his efforts will be remembered well.”
