Shahid Afridi Clarifies Najam Sethi’s Tweet on Removing Babar Azam

Najam Sethi’s statement starts controversy towards Pakistan’s legendary Afridi. Najam Sethi said in a tweet that Shahid Khan Afridi wanted to remove Babar Azam from captaincy. After that, Shahid Afridi clarifies Najam Sethi’s tweet on removing Babar Azam. Afridi said that Najam Sethi did not talk about him. At the same time asked to stop the discussion here. He also wished the Pakistan team all the best for the upcoming New Zealand series.

Afridi wrote, ‘I spoke to PCB Chairman Najam Sethi. He confirmed that he did not say anything referring to Babar Azam’s captaincy. However, he clarified his position on social media. This discussion is therefore over. All the best to Babar and the team for the New Zealand series.’

The media speculated that Babar Azam will be relieved of responsibility for one format when the Afridi-led committee was established. In short, Pakistan’s Test performances at the time were unsatisfactory. That’s why getting rid of him became a challenge.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Najam Sethi, and he was gracious enough to assure me that, when discussing Babar Azam’s leadership, he was not talking to me. In his recent social media tweets, he elaborated on this point. Afridi stated on Twitter that the issue was finally resolved.

Afridi’s tweet came after Sethi’s. There, he brought up the subject of lending his backing to Babar. He was candid enough to say he was just interested in feedback.

“For months, cricket fans and journalists have debated the merits of keeping Babar Azam as captain across all versions of the game. “Because this is ultimately the Chairman’s decision, I have consulted with the Selection Committees chaired by Shahid Afridi and, most recently, by Haroon Rasheed,” Sethi wrote.
