Shaheen Shah Afridi Rested for Afghanistan Series 2023

Pakistan Super League (PSL) is going on, after a few days Pakistan national team will enter the field to play a series against Afghanistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-man squad for the T20I series against Afghanistan 2023 and Shaheen Shah Afridi rested due to a busy schedule along with Babar Azam and Rizwan.

Shadab Khan will lead the Pakistan team in this series against Afghanistan. Star cricketers including regular captain Babar Azam have been rested in the series. Among them are cricketers like Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf, Fakhar Zaman, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

However, there were rumors that Shaheen Afridi might be made the captain of this series. But in the end, it was not done. Basically, it has been decided to rest Afridi as he has a busy schedule ahead. To be able to play in full fit in important series.

Imad Wasim returned to the team in the rest series of the stars. The left-handed all-rounder last played in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Since then, he did not get a chance to play. Finally returned to the national team. Wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan has also returned to the national team. He got a call to the national team because of his great performance in BPL and PSL.

Apart from this, Ihsanullah, Saim Ayyub has been called up to the national team for the first time. Both are waiting to make their debut for the Pakistan national team. Besides, Zaman Khan and Taib Tahir have been taken into the team.

The three-match T20 series between Pakistan and Afghanistan will start on March 24. The remaining two matches of the series will be held on March 26 and 27. All the matches will be played at the Sharjah International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.
