New Zealand Team Leaves After Concluding Pakistan Tour 2023

The New Zealand men’s cricket team returned home in the early hours of Monday morning, shortly after the conclusion of the final ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand.

The Blackcaps played five Twenty20 Internationals and five One-Day Internationals between April 14 and May 7 during their second trip to Pakistan this year. On Twitter, the visitors commended Pakistan for hosting them as the New Zealanders concluded a less successful tour than the previous one.

Earlier in January, under the leadership of Kane Williamson, New Zealand defeated Pakistan 2-1 in a three-match ODI series, after the Tim Southee-led Test team had drawn the two Tests.

On Sunday, the Blackcaps secured a consolation victory in the five-match PAK vs. NZ ODI series at the National Bank Cricket and prevented Pakistan from claiming a 5-0 clean sweep, which would have kept the Green Shirts at the summit of the ODI standings.

Pakistan became the No. 1 ODI team for the first time since the inception of the ICC Rankings system in January 2005. Their 102-run victory in the fourth ODI on Friday propelled them to the top spot. Despite trailing 2-0 after the first two T20I matches, the touring team was able to even the series at 2-2.
