Ireland Test Squad Announced for England Series 2023
Ireland will play a white match against England at Lord’s in the first week of June. Before that match, the Irish will also play a first-class match against Essex in Chelmsford.
Cricket Ireland has announced a 15-member squad ahead of one match test series against England 2023. Josh Little is not in the Andrew Balbarney-led squad.
Speaking about the squad, Ireland national selector Andrew White said, ‘The performance of the cricketers in white against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka – especially the batsmen – will give them confidence in the Lord’s Test. Great news to have Craig Young and Conor Alfert back in the team.’
“Considering the conditions, we are going with only one spinner. And Andy McBrien is leading there in all-round performance. As for Josh Little, even though the IPL is over, he should be given adequate rest. Because we have an important summer in white-ball cricket ahead of us.’
Ireland Test Squad
Andrew Balberney (captain), Mark Adair, Kurtis Campher, George Dockrell, Fionn Hand, Graham Hume, Tom Mayes, Andrew McBrien, James McCullum, PJ Moore, Conor Allfert, Paul Stirling, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker and Craig Young.
