IPL 2022 Scheduled to Start From March 26
The Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI has finalized the starting date March 26 for hosting the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League IPL 2022. The BCCI has finalized four venues in Maharashtra for the IPL. If it is not possible in the country due to the coronavirus epidemic, the venue will be the United Arab Emirates.
The BCCI held a meeting with the IPL franchises on Saturday (January 22). The BCCI finalized the date for the IPL.
According to the decision of the meeting, IPL will be played on March 26. Earlier, the mega auction of the 15th edition of IPL will be held on February 12 and 13 this year in Bangalore.
The BCCI has finalized four venues in Maharashtra for the IPL. The venues are Wankhede Stadium, Babron Stadium, DY Patil Stadium and MCA Stadium.
If it is not possible to hold IPL on Indian soil due to coronavirus epidemic, IPL will be held in UAE again. Earlier, Sri Lanka and South Africa were mentioned as alternative venues.
Three of the four selected venues in Maharashtra are located in Mumbai and one in Pune. A BCCI official said, “There is no need for air travel between Mumbai and Pune. That is why these two cities have been chosen to host this IPL.
Regarding the organization of IPL outside the country, he said, “The BCCI is giving priority to the organization of IPL in India. However, if the situation worsens, the UAE will be the new venue. It will be easier to organize there before.
