Virat Kohli Becomes Fastest Batter to Reach 25000 Test RunsĀ
Virat Kohli became the sixth batsman in cricket history to complete 25000 runs in test matches and becomes the fastest batter to achieve this milestone. But in one way, Virat is ahead of everyone. He reached the milestone of 25 thousand runs by playing the least number of innings.
Virat Kohli scored only 20 runs in the second innings of the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He wrote his name in the record book in these 20 runs. Kohli surpassed Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar on the day with 25,000 runs.
Kohli was only 52 runs away from 25,000 runs in the second Test against Australia. He was dismissed for 44 runs in the first innings. In the second innings, he was dismissed for 20 runs. However, the desired achievement is achieved before that. Kohli has scored 25 thousand runs in 549 innings in three formats. Where ‘The Great’ Tendulkar took 577 innings.
Meanwhile, former Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting reached 25,000 in 588 innings. South Africa’s Jacques Kallis entered the 25,000 clubs after playing 594 innings. Kumar Sangakkara in 608 innings and Mahela Jayawardene in 701 innings touched the milestone of twenty-five thousand runs. Meanwhile, Kohli is ahead of everyone in the average run rate in the club of 25,000 across all three formats. Virat Kohli’s batting average is 53.55.
Meanwhile, India took a 2-0 lead in the four-match series after defeating Australia by 6 wickets in the second Test. The third Test of the series will start on March 1.
