Aiden Markram is South Africa’s New T20 Captain For the West Indies Tour of Africa 2023
The Proteas will play a three-match series against the West Indies later this month. Aiden Markram was appointed as the new captain of the South Africa T20 team after excluding former captain Bavuma from the squad.
Temba Bavuma has been given the Test captaincy of South Africa. He had to pay the compensation. Not only was the captaincy of the T20 team, but this player was also left out of the team.
Bavuma will focus on his role as Test and ODI captain instead of T20Is. Bavuma had a tough time as the Proteas T20 captain in 2022. He averaged 13.40 in 12 matches. His team was unexpectedly eliminated from the T20 World Cup in Australia.
Fast bowlers Henrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada have been rested for the ODIs. The one-day match will be held between March 16-21. However, they will be with the team in T20 matches from March 25-28.
At the same time, JP Duminy has been appointed as the batting coach, and Rory Langavelt has become the bowling coach in white ball cricket. Duminy has been appointed as the permanent batting coach. Langavelt, on the other hand, has been given the responsibility for the upcoming West Indies series.
Talks between South Africa’s limited-overs coach Rob Walter and former captain Faf du Plessis have not been fruitful. Walter did not keep du Plessis in the T20 team. As a result, the future of this 38-year-old batter fell into fear.
